Letting Good Flow

___

Sometimes an opportunity to do something really good turns up unexpectedly, and jumping in to act on it can cancel out feelings of hopelessness, discouragement, fear, boredom, and even anger. Letting good flow somehow cancels out random bundles of bad things in life.

The Southern Gables Neighborhood Association recently received a letter with just such an opportunity, from Jamir Simpson with Brothers Redevelopment’s Paint-A-Thon, This is a community-driven program that provides free exterior house painting services to older adults and individuals with disabilities who need help maintaining their homes. Here’s what Jamir told us:

We’re looking for neighborhood groups like yours to help make an impact by volunteering as a team to paint a home for a homeowner in need. This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen community ties, engage with neighbors, and make a lasting difference right in your area.

Ways You Can Get Involved:

  • Volunteer as a Group: Gather 8-30 neighbors and choose a project date that works best for your team. We provide all materials, safety equipment, and supervision. No prior experience needed!
  • Join Our Special Volunteer Day: Sign up as individuals or a group for Paint-A-Thon Volunteer Day on July 19, 2025, in Denver or Colorado Springs.
  • Help Spread the Word: If your group isn’t available to volunteer, we’d love your help referring homeowners who may qualify for free painting services. If you know an older adult or individual with disabilities who owns and occupies their home and may need assistance, we encourage you to share this opportunity with them.
