Revisit: Memories of Early Southern Gables
___
I’m taking a week off. Two actually, in terms of regular Friday articles in this space. I’ll be back east, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, with my brother and sisters for some long-anticipated family time. We planned the trip to be after the last hurricane and before the next one. Pretty clever, huh?
For this week’s article I asked our neighbor Harry Puncec if he would tell us what it was like to be among the first settlers in what was then the wild and untamed frontier of Southern Gables. He reminded me he already did that.

Memories of Early Southern Gables
… you can read Harry’s story. If you were with us back in 2021 you might remember reading it before, but it’s nice to look back again once in a while. Look for the picture of good old Woody in Harry’s article, and click on his cap if you live in a “Wood Bros” home.
