Summer Block Parties in Southern Gables

___

Neighbors getting together, friendly interaction with old friends and meeting new people. We’re all about that!  The Southern Gables Neighborhood Association sponsors summer block parties. We will pay $150 toward your block party if you are a dues-paid member of the Association, or $100 for non-members.

To get a Southern Gables Neighborhood Association block party grant, first please read the suggestions in our article, You Can Host a Block Party! and then apply by emailing us at SGNA.Lakewood@gmail.com. Include the planned date and how many households you plan to invite.

After the party, let us know how many people came, and it would be nice to send us some pictures. We will write you a check for $150 (or if not a member, $100).*

* Pro tip: if you’re not a member you can join the Association by paying the $20 dues. Then when you apply for the hosting stipend you will qualify for the higher amount.

Now is a good time to get started on your planning. You won’t need a permit unless you decide to block the street. Decide what you will provide and what neighbors should be asked to bring. You can get invitations and notices out in any number of ways. Some neighbors can be asked to bring additional grills, chairs and so on. Activities and games? Nametags? Music? Up to you.
